Coastal Wedding

Coastal Wedding Theme

In this blog, we are sharing inspiration and ideas for the perfect coastal wedding theme. Whether you are planning a beach wedding or riverside celebration, coastal weddings offer a stunning backdrop, combining the natural beauty of the setting with a relaxed atmosphere. Here are some inspiring ideas to help you plan the perfect celebration.

Choose the Right Venue

A coastal wedding offers a variety of venue options, from sandy beaches to charming riverside locations and coastal cottages. When selecting your venue, consider the logistics, such as accessibility for guests (is it easy to get to the location), weather conditions (do you have a backup plan for bad weather), and necessary permits for beach ceremonies (some areas will require this so plan ahead).

For the wedding featured here, we selected a beautiful riverside location that included a large manor house and smaller cottage near the water.  The ceremony was set up on the hill with a view of the river below and the reception took place under a sailcloth tent.   The rehearsal dinner took place down near the river at the river lodge.  It was all perfectly coastal.

Elegant Invitations

Set the tone for your wedding with elegant, coastal-inspired invitations. Opt for soft, light blues and whites, incorporating delicate motifs like waves or coastal flora. This will give your guests a glimpse of the seaside celebration to come.

Consider a lovely envelope liner that exudes a coastal wedding theme.  Perhaps you use coastal colors or maybe a watercolor print of the venue.

Breezy Bridal Attire and Bridesmaid Dresses for Coastal Wedding Theme

When selecting attire for your wedding party, think about your coastal theme.  Light blues, whites, light greens all scream coastal.  Opt for lightweight, flowing fabrics that capture the essence of the coastal feeling. For the groom and groomsmen, light-colored linen suits or casual attire with a sophisticated touch can complement the relaxed vibe.

Coastal Wedding Decor

There are so many options when selecting your decor for a coastal themed wedding.  Consider incorporating natural elements like rattan furniture, light blue accents, and sailcloth tents to create a serene and stylish atmosphere. Use lanterns, string lights, and candles to create a beautiful ambiance as the sun sets over the water. Don’t forget beautiful coastal flowers and greenery for your ceremony backdrop and reception table centerpieces.

A few wedding decor ideas:

  • Sail Cloth Tent.
  • Rattan chargers.
  • Rattan candles and/or vases.
  • Light blue touches like ribbon or menu text.
  • Flowy white, green, blue flowers.
  • White linens with touches of your coastal colors.
  • Wood and rattan furniture.
  • Coastal themed seating chart and/or welcome sign. Something full of flowers with lots of whites and blues.
  • Rattan lanterns adorned with greens hanging from the tent ceiling.
  • Lots of twinkle lights.

Natural Flowy Wedding Bouquets

Embrace the coastal theme with bouquets featuring local blooms and greenery. We love white flowers and flowy greens in a bouquet.  And you can add a touch of the sea with subtle details in light blues and soft greens. These touches will tie your floral arrangements into the overall seaside aesthetic.

The Send-Off

End your celebration with a spectacular send-off. Sparklers, fireworks, or even a boat departure can create a memorable conclusion to your coastal wedding.
